Introduction 
SymDriver-W is a software product whic allows Windows 3.x access to the WAN. Numerous popular terminal emulators (which run as Windows applications) are fully supported. The product may be installed in a single computer or in a LAN workststion. When used as a Windows workstation, access across the LAN is afforded to Symicron's SymGate-W product. A full management package and line monitor are included.

General information and prerequisite's for installation
   In order to run SymDriver-W one of the following two environments are pre-requsite: 
 
Stand alone installation: 

386/486 PC (enhanced mode only). Windows version 3.1 or later. Symicron DTSX adapter (-9, -22, -26, -29, -30) 
 

Netware Workstation Installation: 

386/486 PC (enhanced mode only). Windows version 3.1 or later.  Novell Netware. A communications server on the LAN with SymGATE. Symicron DTSX adapter (-9, -22, -26, -29, -30) installed.

SymDriver-W allows the full capability of the Symicron DTSX communication sub-system to be exploited. The following protocols are enabled by the DTSX card: 
 
IBM SNA protocol support using SDLC
IBM SNA protocol support using QLLC
OSI Transport level support (classes 0..4)
X.25 packet level support
HDLC frame level support
Autodial support via ISDN
X.32 Dial-up X.25 suppoprt using Hayes command set
Technical Information

DIAL UP SUPPORT Hayes commands support X.32 with Transpac options. ISDN dial up support 
 
STAND ALONE USE Support is included for a local DTSX co-processor adapter, including downloader and tester. 
 
WORKSTATION USE As a LAN Workstation driver the Windows machine is afforded access across the LAN to SymGATE (to the DTSX and WAN) 
 
MULTIPLE PORTS Multiple port operation is included. Multiple port usage may be either multiple ports on one card (-22, -26, -29, -30) 
 
MULTIPLE LAN PORTS Where SymDriver-W is installed as a workstation it can access multiple ports on the LAN 
 
PAD SUPPORT Where the X.25 mode is used the X.3, X.28, X.29 SymPAD module offers asynchronous Packet Assembly and Disassembly 
 
MULTI-ASYNC Multiple asynchronous connections from multiple Windows are supported through to X.25 virtual connections 
 
APPLICATIONS SUPPORTED Rumba (Wall Data) - IBM 3270, Reflections (Walker Richer & Quinn. Inc.) - DEC VT320, Intercom (ICC) - Unisys T27, RUA (Alprange) - OSI X.400, Connect (Metascybe) - ICL's IPA, ISO (NCC) - OSI protocol monitor.
