SymTRAN Features
It is a central hub unit for handling data transmission streams from numerous sources. It performs the duty of 'massaging' the data stream into that required for delivery once again to numerous destinations. The unit is a fast processor co-running both a real time purpose-designed data movement tasks as well as Linux as a conventional Operating System. The former is required to handle mission and time critical functions necessary for communications. The latter is used to manage the interfaces and keep an overall supervision of the communication resources.

SymTRAN contains several intelligent interface cards which Symicron has developed for its own sales over many years. A comprehensive suite of protocol stacks is available. Often the unit is used as a bulk communications relay.

SymTRAN is sited at the hub and the centre of a network. Redundancy is included and load balancing can be employed between racked units.

SymTRAN is totally manufactured by Symicron using its proven sub-products to complete a comprehensive and tailored communications solution. The specific tasks which SymTRAN can undertake invariably involve some additional programs which are user specific to suit the customer environment. Whilst there are several 'a la carte' options which can significantly reduce the cost of the unit, SymTRAN 's strength lies in its adaptability to suit specific requirements.

SymTRAN can work transparently with SymRelay (located at remote sites). Here an ongoing monitor of operation between the remote and centre can be performed out-of-band from the communication path. Call protocol spoofing can be introduced to enable virtual calls to appear to be present all the time. This scenario is ideal as a fully transparent Virtual Private Network (VPN). SymTRAN can also be connected to the Internet for fallback use, bandwidth topup or as a VPN.
