SYMICRON
LAUNCH WAN COMMS CARD WITH ISDN AND X.25 CAPABILITY
Symicron Computer
Communications Ltd, the UK's leading manufacturer of ISDN systems,
has launched the DTSX-22, a new Wide Area Network card for PCs with
a PCI bus, that acts as an ISDN co-processor offering multiple network
protocol support. The protocols supported by the DTSX-22 include X.25,
QLLC, SDLC, HDLC, PPP, OSI Transport and asynchronous. Typical applications
include the backup of a leased line, terminal access, remote LAN access,
file transfer and point of sale in retail outlets.
According to Damian Cox of Symicron, "There is a tremendous market
for this device in Financial Services where a central site is distributing
information to many smaller sites, similarly in the Armed Forces and
Government. Typical applications in retail situations are petrol forecourts
or retail outlets where customers swipe their cards for authorisation."
